Cereal!!

First time with cereal

This was at dinner time, but Brooks calls it her breakfast. I guess b/c we said it's cereal.

Update

I know it's been awhile, as usual. So here's a quick recap of the last month or so. At the beginning of January we went to Lucy's 4 month check-up. I can't believe she's already almost 5 months old now! She was 14 lb. 4 oz. (50th-75th percentile) and 23 in. long (10th percentile). So she's still short like her Nana and Grandma (or Maw Maw as Brooks says!) But she's healthy and happy. She is definitely getting rounder! Her little belly and rolls on her arms and legs are so cute! She smiles ALL THE TIME now and loves to laugh. She has such a strong belly laugh. I don't remember Brooks laughing that hard at this age. One of her favorite things to do is to watch her big brother. It doesn't matter what he's doing, she fixes her eyes on him and just laughs. We've tried cereal a couple times, but she's not that into yet. We're in no rush right now. She is definitely not starving with just breastmilk! Speaking of that, I'm trying to slowly ween her right now, so soon it should be all formula. I hope she doesn't have a problem with it. She seems a little more high maintenance than her brother.

Brooks is getting bigger and bigger. And talking all the time. He's starting to crack us up with the things he says. I should start writing them down, so I'll remember them. He loves school still, although we went through a rough patch where he decided he was going to have separation anxiety. No matter where he was dropped off, nursery, school, nana's or grandma's, he would cry. Oh that was horrible for me. Especially since he had NEVER done that before. But lately it's gotten better and he's starting to get back to his normal self. He's starting to sing a little now, which is so cute. And he can count to 10 and sort of say the alphabet (he still needs some cues every few letters).

Daddy doesn't like this one... she's showing a little cleavage!

Christmas Time!!

So I know it's the new year, and I'm 1 1/2 weeks late, but whatever. Our Christmas was great this year. Brooks was really into opening presents, and he didn't need much help, either. Christmas Eve we spent with the Smarts at Jefferson's Christmas Eve service, then headed to Maw Maw and Grandpa's house to celebrate Grandpa's birthday a day late. We also opened the "family gift" from the 'rents: Wii Fit. Now, my mom doesn't have a Wii, but she still decided to buy a Wii Fit for her house. We also got Shawn White's snowboarding game. And Mike can tell you, it's not really true to life... it doesn't hurt near as much!! Then we went home and Brooks put out cookies and milk for Santa. In the morning, he slept late!!! YAY!!! I also think he was a little overwhelmed when he saw his stash that Santa had left him, but he soon warmedup and had a great time playing with the loot. Then we headed to the Wilson's for lunch and of course, more presents. Brooks had lots of fun here too. I think his favorite gift was a fishing pole with magnetic fish. It's supposed to be for the bathtub, but he didnt' seem to mind fishing all over the house. I don't have a whole lot of pictures because I was filming most of the time. I need to get some from all of the other papparazzi that were there!

Playhouse Disney

So I know these posts are out of order, but I'm just trying to catch up. We went to see Playhouse Disney Live! We didn't see the commercial for it until late, so the only tickets left were the most expensive ones, front and center, literally! Mike said it was the most expensive concert he's ever been to. But it was well worth it. Brooks liked it. I think he was a little overwhelmed at first, but warmed up towards the end. We saw Mikey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Little Einsteins, and Tigger and Pooh. We hyped up Handy Manny, but we were diappointed b/c he wasn't very good. I think I knew the words to the songs better than he did. And I was surprised to see that Brooks was excited the most about Little Einsteins. Of course, Daddy had to buy him something, so he ended up leaving with cotton candy, a Handy Manny hard hat, and a Handy Manny doll. I thought maybe the Handy Manny would make it to the head of his bed to sleep with him, but jsut like every other stuffed thing he has, he put him at the foot of the bed. The only friends allowed by his head are Bear and Elmo. I think that will be a special day when something else gets to move to the head of the bed! Anyway, we saw the show during his normal nap time, so once we got into the car, it didn't take him long to crash.

SNOW DAY!!!

Our Street

Bulldozing the snow

Our House

Mike's truck

Who would have thunk it?? Snowing in Baton Rouge! And I don't mean some flurries that don't stick to the ground, I mean a REAL snow! It was beautiful. I looked outside at about 5:00 am and saw it coming down. I figured by the time the sun came up, it would be gone. Boy was I wrong. Brooks and I ended up going outside at about 7:00 or 7:30 and the ground was covered. He didn't like it, which was a little disappointing for me. He did have fun riding his bulldozer on the driveway and pushing the snow. Later in the day he went to Nana's and he played in the snow there. I'll have more pictures of that later. Poor Lucy had to stay inside. It was too cold for her!

Thanksgiving

Well, our Thanksgiving was a little unconventional this year. Mike ended up having to work on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, so instead of going to Mississippi as usual, we stayed home. It was wierd not having the whole family around... Mike and I kept saying it didn't really feel like Thanksgiving, but it was still a good day. We all got to sleep late, YAY!!! Brooks and I also got to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (a Thanksgiving tradition, in my opinion). Mike smoked a turkey and I cooked dressing, mashed potatoes, and green beans. It was a very relaxing day and it gave us a good chance to think about how thankful we were to have our own family to spend time with. Being a "family of 4" is surreal to think about, but it's also amazing that we have come to this point in our lives. I'm so happy and thankful for the boys, and now girl, I have in my life.
