Talk, Talk, Talk!!

Brooks is now 2 1/2. Being a Speech Therapist, when he was 1 1/2 and not speaking in full sentences, I was a little worried. Not that I should have been, I was just expecting more than I should have, and I knew it. If I ever had any thoughts that his language was going to be delayed at all, boy was I wrong!! He talks all the time now, and usually in really long sentences. I counted one day and he said a sentence with 10 words. That's alot for a 2 yr. old. He uses pronouns, prepositions, connectiong words. I guess he's just a genius!! So here's a list of a few things that he likes to say:
"I not uh know" now he's starting to say "I don't know"
"Run-a-mote" (Remote)
"Wheuh da baby? Deh-a Luty!" (playing where's the baby)
"atti" (actually- and he uses it correctly)
"Po-kee-no" (Pinnochio)
"dut" (just, as in 'that's just for me, not you')
"wheuh we doe today, mommy" (where we go today)
"dat be otay mommy?" (this usually follows him asking to do something he knows I'm going to say no to, and it's usually in the car when he's asking. I think b/c he knows I can't hear everything his saying, and he just wants me to say yes)
"owwa ome dat way?" (our home that way? pointing out the window on the way home)
"Aan Annie and Untle Bwitan" (Aunt Andi and Uncle Brian)
"Dat's duh title pade" (Pointing to the title page in 'Go Dog Go'. This was a new one for me today. I think Nana has been practicing)
"Me hab Bwoot an Daddy day" (me have a Brooks and Daddy day, after spending the weekend without mommy and Lucy)

Pinewood Derby

Jefferson had their annual Pinewood Derby Races a couple weekends ago. This was our first year to participate, and we didn't realize how serious some people took it! Some of those cars were fancy! We had fun watching the cars race, and seeing how well Brooks and Mike did. (They both entered a car). Lucy had a car to enter, but somehow it got a little banged up before we could enter it!! We'll try again next year. Brooks didnt' place, but at least he didn't come in last ever! I think Mike did come in last a couple times! He even got beat by a Jonus Brothers car!! But Mike won the award for "Best Theme". It was army, of course. So here's some pictures from that day and earlier when Brooks was helping Mike sand down the car.

out of town guests

Last Saturday, we went to Hattiesburg, MS. Granny's brother, Bud and his wife Peggy were having a surprise 60th wedding anniversary dinner. The whole ride there and home, it was pouring!! Horrible driving conditions, and I slept most of the way! Thanks, Mike :) So I was able to meet some of Granny's family that I had never met before. Even though there were alot of people there, we ended up sitting in the corner mingling among ourselves! Here's a few pictures we took while we were there:

Green Beans and Wasps

Maybe if I try to blog once a week, it'll work... we'll see. Anyway, today was a pretty exciting day, especially for a Monday. After we came home from work, Brooks, of course wanted to play outside. Mike was doing some yard work. I was holding Lucy and all of a sudden Brooks started hopping around yelling, "sting me, sting me...oooowwwww" He was stung by a wasp when he was playing in his fort. Poor baby. But, as usual, it didn't take him long to get over it. Although the red mark on his elbow looked really bad!

Another first, Lucy ate green beans for supper!! We were much more successful with these than with the cereal. She actually ate some, and only spit out a few spoonfuls. Yay Lucy!!

Showing off his wasp sting

yummy green beans!

fingers are good too, i guess

I promise she liked it, no matter what her face says

She kept trying to grab the spoon

Poor Brooks

Poor Brooks. Last weekend was the laziest weekend for him in awhile. I've never seen so many animated movies in such a short amount of time. And b/c Mike's such a softy, we even missed the 2nd half of the Super Bowl to watch Shrek! So here's our list of movies as well as I can remember: Shrek (at least 2 times, maybe 3), Toy Story, Cars, Monster's Inc, Tarzan, Flushed Away. And of course there were some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse's and Little Einsteins thrown in there. He got sick on Friday, and started running fever Friday night, along with a horrible sounding cough and runny nose. He had fever all weekend, so we kept pumping him full of Tylenol and Motrin. He didn't eat anything all weekend and wasn't drinking much either. By Monday, he still was not better, so Mike took him to the doctor. She said he was starting to get an ear infection in his right ear and his lungs were wet sounding, so she thought he might be getting Bronchitis. Yuck! So now he's on antibiotics and starting to feel better. :)

Cereal!!

First time with cereal

This was at dinner time, but Brooks calls it her breakfast. I guess b/c we said it's cereal.

Update

I know it's been awhile, as usual. So here's a quick recap of the last month or so. At the beginning of January we went to Lucy's 4 month check-up. I can't believe she's already almost 5 months old now! She was 14 lb. 4 oz. (50th-75th percentile) and 23 in. long (10th percentile). So she's still short like her Nana and Grandma (or Maw Maw as Brooks says!) But she's healthy and happy. She is definitely getting rounder! Her little belly and rolls on her arms and legs are so cute! She smiles ALL THE TIME now and loves to laugh. She has such a strong belly laugh. I don't remember Brooks laughing that hard at this age. One of her favorite things to do is to watch her big brother. It doesn't matter what he's doing, she fixes her eyes on him and just laughs. We've tried cereal a couple times, but she's not that into yet. We're in no rush right now. She is definitely not starving with just breastmilk! Speaking of that, I'm trying to slowly ween her right now, so soon it should be all formula. I hope she doesn't have a problem with it. She seems a little more high maintenance than her brother.

Brooks is getting bigger and bigger. And talking all the time. He's starting to crack us up with the things he says. I should start writing them down, so I'll remember them. He loves school still, although we went through a rough patch where he decided he was going to have separation anxiety. No matter where he was dropped off, nursery, school, nana's or grandma's, he would cry. Oh that was horrible for me. Especially since he had NEVER done that before. But lately it's gotten better and he's starting to get back to his normal self. He's starting to sing a little now, which is so cute. And he can count to 10 and sort of say the alphabet (he still needs some cues every few letters).

Daddy doesn't like this one... she's showing a little cleavage!
